What is Image Processing?

Image processing is similar to signal processing where we interpret images as a two-dimensional signal and apply standard techniques of signal processing.

Why we need it?

It is very helpful in modern research where we need to work on complex experimental or scientific data which includes microarray data in genetic research, or real-time multi-asset portfolio trading in finance. With the improvement in computer power, we can do much work in a digital way instead of using traditional analog methods.

Before doing anything related to this subject, first, you should know about image,

So, What is an Image?

It is a two-dimensional representation on the screen which is also known as pixel representation where each pixel contains special information about the image. So when we get an image, it is broken into a grid of pixels for digital processing.

The image can be represented in two ways:

Vector(Used in CAD)
Bitmap(Used in complex designs)

Uses:

Fingerprint retrieval
Industrial inspection
